LGBTQ+

Based on the saddening disparities in local LGBTQ+ youth, especially around mental health, suicide and substance use, community partners came together to create Eagle County GSA (Gender Straight Alliance). GSA has filed as a Colorado Mountain College student group and is open to community members of any age, affiliation, and identity. Please follow the Eagle County GSA and view the 2017 Eagle County Healthy Kids Colorado Survey here.

“It’s pretty ironic that the so-called ‘least advantaged’ people are the ones taking the lead in trying to protect all of us and improve society, while the richest and most powerful among us are the ones who are trying to drive the society to destructive and unjust ends.” -Noam Chomsky, presented by Dr. Mercedes Quesada-Embid during a recent GSA meeting as a conversation springboard.

June 30th the last day of pride Mountain Youth held the first LGBTQ+ Pride Panel. The goal of the panel was to spend the last day of Pride month celebrating the diversity of our community through a virtual LGBTQ+ educational panel. Members of Eagle County shared their experience with sexual orientation and gender identity. The group spent time sharing their experience as well as giving advice to others in the community. Stay tuned for more LGBTQ+  events.
